PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) - A driver accused of fatally injuring a 10-year-old girl in a suburban Omaha crosswalk has surrendered.
Sarpy County Jail records say 19-year-old Masey Lawrence turned herself in Friday morning to face charges of vehicular homicide, speeding and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Authorities say Lawrence struck Abby Whitford on Aug. 20 in downtown Papillion as Abby and her brother, Ben, headed for a nearby library. He was not injured. She died two days later.
