The Norfolk Fire Division responded to what turned out to be a car fire at 2nd and Pasewalk Avenue early Saturday morning. The call came in about 4:25am.
First arriving units saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the interior of the vehicle that was fully engulfed.
Initial crews encountered flames coming from the vehicle.
Norfolk Fire Capt. Lannce Grothe says it took approximately 6 firefighters and two rigs about 10 minutes to control the fire and another 45 minutes to overhaul the car.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The car was a total loss, and no one was injured.
Capt. Grothe also issued a reminder to citizens to scoop fire hydrants when they become buried by snow so it does not delay the fire department.
