STATE GIRLS GOLF

Don’t you dare put an asterisk next to Kaitlyn Hanna’s repeat Class A state golf championship.

The Class C girls golf team championship is wide open. Last year’s co-champion, Ogallala, has everyone back, but the Indians were bumped up to Class B for 2019.

Judging by scores from each of the four Class A golf districts, three of the 12 teams qualifying for the state tournament at the Norfolk Country Club seem to be in a league of their own.

NORTH PLATTE – Paige Peters of Thurston-Cuming County and Cassidy Ulrich of Hartington Cedar Catholic became familiar opponents by the end of the Class C state golf meet.

Allison Temple didn’t have the start or finish she wanted, but there were plenty of good strokes in between to remain in contention at the Class A girls state golf tournament.

NORTH PLATTE — West Point-Beemer junior Lacie Fox, after trailing by one after the first day, won the Class C girls golf tournament Tuesday by four strokes.

COLUMBUS – Boone Central’s Melissa Kyncl finished fourth, West Pont-Beemer Lacie Fox placed sixth and Atkinson West Holt’s Mackenzie Hale came in 10th in the Class C Nebraska Girl’s State Golf Tournament here at Quail Run Golf Course on Tuesday.

COLUMBUS – Mother Nature and the field couldn’t keep Norfolk Catholic senior Ashlen Pospisil and West Point-Beemer freshman Lacie Fox from medals at the Class C Girls’ State Golf Tournament held here Tuesday at Quail Run Golf Course.

Lacie Fox from West Point-Beemer and Melissa Kyncl from Boone Central/Newman Grove are looking to keep the momentum generated with Class C District golf titles as they prepare for next week’s Class C state golf meet at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.

When Ashlen Pospisil was introduced to golf — way back when she was just 4 or 5 — by her father, Todd, she began a journey that will take another big step at the Class C Nebraska State Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.
