First Baptist Church in Norfolk was the scene of the Wonderful World of Weddings fashion show. This was part of the Women’s Connection festivities on Sept. 15. Ten models walked the runway showing off their mother-of-the-bride, mother-of-the-groom, bridal and flower girl dresses. Along with the models, there were 18 mannequin displays featuring bridal gowns from many decades and several generations. Sharon Lesser featured her husband’s grandmother’s bridal gown from 106 years ago. Barb Barr displayed her parents’ wedding attire from 70 years ago. This included Barb’s mother’s bridal gown, shoes, dried flowers and her father’s wedding suit. Connie Throener shared her mother’s 73-year-old wedding dress. The dresses showed style changes through the years and were a big hit for the 93 ladies in attendance.
