Norfolk residents may have been surprised to hear a tornado warning Tuesday evening just after 6 p.m.

Faythe Petersen, the emergency management coordinator at the Norfolk Fire Division, said the alarm was accidentally activated. It had to run the full three minutes because there was no way to stop it, she said.

“They got an extra (alarm) test, anyway,” Petersen said.
