Police Action

A police officer’s check of a van stopped in a traffic lane Monday afternoon lead to the arrest of a Norfolk man for active warrants.

Capt. Mike Bauer with the Norfolk Police Division said an officer saw the van stopped in the 700 block of Michigan Avenue.

The officer approached the driver and noticed an adult male laying on the floor of the van, Bauer said.

The man verbally identified himself, but officers learned the male had lied about his name and was subsequently identified as Marquise S. Edwards, 23.

A records check showed Edwards to have two outstanding warrants out of Madison County. He was arrested on the warrants and for criminal impersonation.

Edwards was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
