Arrest action NDN

A welfare check on a woman sitting in a parked vehicle for several hours lead to her arrest on multiple charges Wednesday morning.

Capt. Mike Bauer with the Norfolk Police Division said officers were dispatched to the 900 block of North Ninth Street at 7:43 a.m.

Officers located a red Nissan that had been reported and had contact with the female driver, identified as Haleigh D. Kappel (aka Haleigh D. Gerard), 24, of Lincoln.

A check of Kappel’s identification showed two active Lancaster County warrants for her arrest.

Kappel was taken into custody by the officers, and a subsequent search of her vehicle turned up multiple pipes, two of which contained white residue.

Also recovered was a bong used for smoking marijuana, Bauer said.

Two of the pipes tested positive for methamphetamine, and the charge of possession of a controlled substance was added to Kappel’s arrest.

She was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
