All cattle and calves in Nebraska as of Jan. 1, totaled 6.80 million head, unchanged from Jan. 1, 2019, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The NASS reported that all cows and heifers that had calves totaled 1.98 million head, down 1% from last year, beef cows numbered 1.92 million, down 1%; milk cows numbered 58,000 head, down 2%; and all cattle on feed fed for slaughter in Nebraska feedlots totaled 2.6 million head, down 5%.
