1980 Willie Nelson and his band performed at the White House with President Jimmy Carter in attendance

1986 - Reba went to number one with "Little Rock"

1991 - Patsy Cline's Greatest Hits album was certified triple platinum

1996 - LeAnn Rimes sang "Blue," "I Wanna Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" and "Blue Moon of Kentucky" during her first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry

2003 - The U.S. Postal Service unveiled a stamp featuring Roy Acuff during a ceremony at the Grand Ole Opry House

2006 - Kellie Pickler's debut single "Red High Heels" was released

2009 - Taylor Swift became the first country music artist to win an MTV Music Video award at the 2009 event, winning a Best Female Video for "You Belong with Me." Hip-hop artist and producer Kanye West interrupted Swift's acceptance speech, saying that another video should have won. This resulted in a media stir for several days; eventually, West apologizes — first on his blog, and then by personally contacting Swift
