Los Angeles is wasting little time pitching Kawhi Leonard on a potential move to the Clippers.  Two digital billboards went up over Interstate 5 in Downey, about ten miles southeast of Staples Center, encouraging the Southern California native to come home.  One bears an image of a California license plate personalized to read "KAWHI," with the hashtag #ClipperNation; the other reads "King of SoCal,"  A team source told ESPN that "the Clippers knew nothing" about the billboards.  Leonard, 27, is expected to be a prime commodity on the free-agent market this summer after leading Toronto to its first NBA title.  Teams can start negotiating with free agents on Sunday, though no deals can be signed until July 6.

New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway cursed at a reporter, and pitcher Jason Vargas had to be restrained from charging him during a confrontation in the team's clubhouse after a loss yesterday.  ESPN reports that the dustup with beat writer Tim Healey of Newsday occurred after the Mets blew a late lead in a 5-3 defeat to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.  There was no physical contact.  In a story published by Newsday last night, Healy said Mets chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon called him "to apologize on behalf of the organization."  The incident followed a tense postgame news conference, when reporters asked Callaway repeatedly about his decision to stick with reliever Seth Lugo during the eighth inning instead of going to closer Edwin Diaz.  Lugo allowed a go-ahead, three-run homer to Javier Baez.

Michigan will be involved in the program’s first championship appearance since 1962 as they face Vanderbilt in Game 1 of the College World Series Championship Final at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha this evening at 6:00.  The Wolverines are 49-20 on the season while the Commodores are 57-11.  Michigan beat Texas Tech twice and Florida State to reach today while Vanderbilt topped Louisville twice and Mississippi State to qualify.  The Wolverines were one strike away from an 0-2 performance in the Big Ten Tournament a month ago and might not have qualified for an NCAA Regional.  They earned one of the last four spots in the NCAA Tournament field to earn the program’s first berth in the NCAA Tournament in 35 years.  Michigan will be the first Big Ten team to compete for the college baseball national title in 53 seasons.  The Commodores have made three of the last six College World Series finals.

The Omaha Storm Chasers baseball game yesterday against San Antonio was suspended due to rain with the game tied at 7-7 in the bottom of the fifth inning.  The contest will resume today at 12:05 with Monday’s regularly scheduled game to follow.

Local Scores:  Elkhorn Mt. Michael Knights 3 Nfk Seniors 2 (Bsbl).
