NORFOLK - The Norfolk Fire Division has a new fire truck.
Numerous people gathered at the Fire Station Tuesday to unveil the truck called Tower One.
Fire Chief Scott Cordes said Tower One is a big upgrade.
"This aerial device is a 100 foot mid-mount platform truck. It replaces a 1974 Snorkel that had 85 foot of reach. It also comes with a 2,000 gallon per-minute pump which is replacing a 1,250 gallon per-minute pump that was on the previous truck."
Cordes said his team has spent the last couple of weeks putting equipment on it and going through trainings before they put it in operation.
He said the City of Norfolk and the Norfolk Rural Fire Protection District came together to split the cost of the $1.2 million truck.
Cordes said all of the staff played a role in developing the specifications for building the truck in a manner that is going to serve the community for many decades to come.
