NORFOLK - Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States, and Norfolk Catholic has a full schedule of events planned.
Pam Weiser a teacher at Norfolk Catholic says this year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”
Weiser says on Tuesday Archbishop George Lucas will celebrate a special mass.
"With Dr. Ridder coming to our school and being from the Omaha Archdiocese area, he wanted to bring it to the rural area. He's been the backbone of this whole thing getting it going and we are very excited to be hosting it" Weiser said.
"We're looking so forward to it, it's taken a lot of time and a lot of planning" Weiser added.
She says through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.
