NORFOLK - Training sessions on the response of human sex trafficking are set to take place in Norfolk this week.
The Norfolk Rotary Club is hosting the free training as part of a collaborative initiative with the Coalition on Human Trafficking and Rotary District 5650.
JoBeth Cox says the purpose of the sessions is to raise awareness.
"That's really the most important first step in taking action against it, and being aware that it's going on very close to home. Our goal is to have every signal staff member in every hotel in Norfolk attend one of these sessions."
Cox says community members are invited to attend also if interested in learning more about joining the fight against human trafficking.
The sessions are set for twice a day Monday through Thursday at 10:30 and again at 5:30 at the Lifelong Learning Center on the campus of Northeast Community College.
