STANTON — Traffic on Highway 275 was reopened about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday following a semi-trailer truck fire about an hour earlier.
Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger said just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a semi-tractor fire on Highway 275, just east of the Highway 57 junction.
Upon arriving, the semi was found fully engulfed in flames and the driver, Leonard Roberts, 49, Jackson, Ky., was located in a ditch nearby with non-life threatening injuries, Unger said.
Roberts was transported to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk by ambulance and the fire was extinguished by Stanton Fire.
The incident blocked the highway for about 45 minutes, and the wreckage was still being attended to at 4:30 p.m.
Stanton County Emergency Management and the Nebraska Department of Transportation also responded and were assisting with traffic control.
The semi and trailer that was hauling steel coils were all a total loss.
