MESA, Ariz. — Nebraska opened the beach volleyball season with a 4-1 win over Benedictine University on Friday.
Three Husker teams won in straight sets. Kelly Hunter and Annika Albrecht won their match 21-10, 21-13, while Kenzie Maloney and Sami Slaughter won 21-16, 21-14 and Allie Havers and Jasmine Schmidt swept 21-10, 21-15.
Nebraska’s top pair of Lauren Stivrins and Jazz Sweet won 21-19, 17-21, 15-13.
Nebraska (1-0) will face LSU at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and Cal Poly at 5 p.m.
