FREMONT — Shirley A. Kothenbeutel, 61, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Valley.

A memorial service was Thursday at Living Word Church in Fremont. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Hooper Cemetery. Dugan Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley was born on Aug. 14, 1951, to Dean and Doris Christensen in Fremont. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1969. After graduating, she married and had two children, daughter Jamie Chapman and son Chad Lovald. She spent the majority of her life in Nebraska and Florida.

In 1993, she married Ben Kothenbeutel of Fremont. They lived together in Hooper and Stuart.

Her life was focused around her love toward God, her husband, children, family and friends. She enjoyed playing tennis, cooking and water or lakeside activities. Her lovely smile reflected her kind heart, her Godly attitude and her deep appreciation for the many blessings she received throughout her life. All who knew and loved her were inspired by her amazing strength and perseverance.

She is survived by parents Dean and Doris Christensen of Hooper; husband Ben Kothenbeutel of Fremont; daughter Jamie (Bob) Chapman of Boynton Beach, Fla.; son Chad Lovald of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sister LaVonne (Tom) Ryan of Waterloo; sister Diane (Tom) Wagner of Hooper; brother Dan (Cindy) Christensen of Austin, Texas; grandsons Riley and Reece Chapman of Boynton Beach; nieces and nephews, Rich (Jennifer) Dorfmeyer of Omaha, Sean Ryan of Omaha, Shannon Ryan of Omaha, Kelly (Andrew) Jackson of Omaha, Kris (Becky) Wagner of Gretna, Peter (Pam) Christensen of Round Rock, Texas, Carrie (Ryan) Jackson of Round Rock.

A memorial has been established by the family to be determined at a later time.

Obituary policy

The Daily News publishes death notices and obituaries on a daily basis for Norfolkans, area residents and former residents.

Death notices, which include information about when and where a person died, funeral services, burial and visitation for the deceased and memorial information, are published free of charge.

If families of the deceased desire to have an obituary printed, there is a fee charged for doing so. Because of that, families of the deceased can decide what information they want included in the obituary, as well as if they desire to have a photograph published along with it.

Norfolk and area funeral homes have detailed information about placing an obituary in the Daily News. If individuals want to submit obituary information themselves, it can be emailed to funerals@norfolkdailynews.com or faxed to (402) 644-2080.
