NORFOLK - Memorial services for Robert Lee Pearson Jr., 28, of Norfolk will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Home for Funerals.

His body was discovered in a shallow grave west of Madison on July 17.

Robert was born in Murphysboro, Ill., on Sept. 14, 1978, the son of Robert and Linda (McCormick) Pearson Sr.

He began his education in Murphysboro and then moved with his family to Norfolk in the fall of 1989. He attended Westside Elementary and later Woodland Park School. Robert attended Norfolk High School and later earned his high school equivalency degree. He had completed a semester at Wayne State College and was living in Norfolk at the time of his disappearance.

Robert had been employed by Affiliated Foods Midwest and Target. He enjoyed all sports but especially liked basketball.

Robert is survived by his parents; three brothers, Walter, Kenny and James; four sisters, Linda, Paula, Mary and Jada; and his maternal grandparent.

Obituary policy

The Daily News publishes death notices and obituaries on a daily basis for Norfolkans, area residents and former residents.

Death notices, which include information about when and where a person died, funeral services, burial and visitation for the deceased and memorial information, are published free of charge.

If families of the deceased desire to have an obituary printed, there is a fee charged for doing so. Because of that, families of the deceased can decide what information they want included in the obituary, as well as if they desire to have a photograph published along with it.

Norfolk and area funeral homes have detailed information about placing an obituary in the Daily News. If individuals want to submit obituary information themselves, it can be emailed to funerals@norfolkdailynews.com or faxed to (402) 644-2080.
