NORFOLK — Memorial services for Manifred M. “Manny” Buske, 79, Norfolk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. The Rev. Mike Moreno will officiate. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 16, VFW Post 1644 and the U. S. Army Honors Guard.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

He died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.

1939-2019

Born June 13, 1939, in Idaho Springs, Colo., Manifred was the son of Max and Esther (Meinke) Buske. He was baptized on Aug. 6, 1939, in Idaho Springs and confirmed May 31, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pierce. He attended rural School District 35 northeast of Pierce and Pierce High School. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 18, 1958, to Sept. 12, 1960.

He married Deanna F. Jonson on May 27, 1962, at Zion East Lutheran Church in rural Hoskins. They lived east of Pierce and farmed. They moved south of Norfolk and lived on acreage in 1969.

Manny was a heavy equipment operator and worked at gravel pits at Pierce and Pilger. He worked for 25 years in maintenance at Tyson Pork Plant in Madison. He retired in 2014.

Manny enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, horse racing, Nebraska Cornhuskers and fishing. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pierce.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Donna Buske of Apache Junction, Ariz.; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Esther; his spouse, Deanna Buske in 2014; and a brother, Waldo.
