O’NEILL — Memorial services for Kelly Hoffart, 44, of O’Neill will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in O’Neill with visitation starting at 9 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in Wyoming.

Services are under the direction of Biglin’s Mortuary. The Rev. Mike Durre is officiating.

He died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at his residence in O’Neill.

He was born March 20, 1968, in Sacramento, Calif., to Jimmie and Janice (Foster) Hoffart. He graduated from O’Neill High School in 1986. He married Darline Durre March 21, 1987, in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Kelly served his country as a security officer for the Air Force at Francis Warren Air Base in Cheyenne. He married Shelley Fickler Nov. 20, 1998, in O’Neill. He worked for Christinsen Family Farms northeast of Atkinson.

Kelly was a very proud, loving father and husband. Although there was distance between them through most of their lives, his daughters always knew that Kelly was just a phone call away and full of advice. Kelly found it very important that life not be taken too seriously and thus never missed an opportunity for a good joke. He was a strong believer in Christ and would quote the scripture often.

In his younger adult years, Kelly coached pony league in O’Neill. He also enjoyed fishing and had a passion for music and his animals, which he talked about frequently. Kelly was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Huskers and found sports to be very important during his life.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Shelley; two daughters, Mikayla Hoffart and Amber Hoffart of Norfolk; his parents, Jim and Janice Hoffart of Ravenna; one sister, Karri Lammers and husband Rick of Lexington; one brother, Kirby Hoffart and wife Brenda of Columbus; mother-in-law Gerry Fickler of Atwood, Kan.; grandmother Helen Hoffart of Lincoln and also some nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Merle Hoffart and maternal grandparents Floyd and Doris Foster.

Obituary policy

The Daily News publishes death notices and obituaries on a daily basis for Norfolkans, area residents and former residents.

Death notices, which include information about when and where a person died, funeral services, burial and visitation for the deceased and memorial information, are published free of charge.

If families of the deceased desire to have an obituary printed, there is a fee charged for doing so. Because of that, families of the deceased can decide what information they want included in the obituary, as well as if they desire to have a photograph published along with it.

Norfolk and area funeral homes have detailed information about placing an obituary in the Daily News. If individuals want to submit obituary information themselves, it can be emailed to funerals@norfolkdailynews.com or faxed to (402) 644-2080.

People needing additional information about death notices and obituaries can call the Daily News at 371-1020 or (877) 371-1020 and ask for the newsroom.
