NORFOLK — Services for James M. O’Gorman, 73, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. at Home for Funerals.

He died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Heritage of Bel Air.


James M. O’Gorman was born on Dec. 7, 1936, in Norfolk, the son of Patrick J. and Mary (MacFarlane) O’Gorman. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and later confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He graduated in 1955 from Norfolk High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and then attended Norfolk Junior College.

Jim married Della Deitloff on Aug. 7, 1960, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Jim was a semi driver for Beatrice Foods Company for 25 years and Affiliated Foods for 13 years. He previously worked at the U.S. Postal Service and Wells Dental Lab.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a past member of the board of directors for the Elkhorn Valley Historical Museum.

Jim is survived by his wife, Della O’Gorman of Norfolk; their children, Kelly and husband Don Eldridge of Elkhorn, James A. O’Gorman and his fiancee, Brenda Perdue of Norfolk, and Kathryn and husband Craig Jungjohann of Papillion; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Patrick and his wife, Frances O’Gorman of Norfolk, and Terrance and his wife, Mary Lou O’Gorman of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; and one sister, Mary Ann Jindra of Pilger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Daniel and Timothy; and one sister, Kathleen.

The family requests memorials be directed to St. Paul’s Radio Broadcast Fund or family choice.

Obituary policy

The Daily News publishes death notices and obituaries on a daily basis for Norfolkans, area residents and former residents.

Death notices, which include information about when and where a person died, funeral services, burial and visitation for the deceased and memorial information, are published free of charge.

If families of the deceased desire to have an obituary printed, there is a fee charged for doing so. Because of that, families of the deceased can decide what information they want included in the obituary, as well as if they desire to have a photograph published along with it.

Norfolk and area funeral homes have detailed information about placing an obituary in the Daily News. If individuals want to submit obituary information themselves, it can be emailed to funerals@norfolkdailynews.com or faxed to (402) 644-2080.
