EWING — Services for Florence Vandersnick, 89, O’Neill, formerly of Ewing, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ewing. The Rev. Bernard Starman will officiate. Burial will be in the Vandersnick Cemetery in rural Ewing.

Visitation will begin an hour before the service at the church.

She died Friday, May 10, 2019, at the O’Neill Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Florence was born at Emerick on May 2, 1930, to Jay and Oneita (Horrocks) Davison. Her parents moved quite often when she was growing up. She attended school through eighth grade and then went out into the work force.

She married Roy Vandersnick on Feb. 26, 1949, in Ewing. To this union, five children were born: Dennis, Barb, Mardell, Martin and Rita. They lived in the rural Deloit area, later moving to Atkinson and then returning to the Ewing area.

She stayed in the Ewing area until 2012, when she made her home in O’Neill.

Florence worked at the Green Lantern Café, drove bus for 20 years for the Ewing Public Schools and worked at Ewing Lumber. After leaving Ewing Lumber, she kept busy cleaning and painting for people in and around Ewing.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidering, baking, flowers, birds, gardening and watching the Cubs play baseball.

She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

Florence is survived by her children and their spouses, Barb Carrizales of Broken Bow, Mardell Shoemaker and spouse Hugh of O’Neill, Martin Vandersnick and spouse Deb of Creighton, Rita Meyer of Orchard; daughter-in-law Cathy Vandersnick of O’Neill; nine grandchildren, Benji Carrizales and spouse Katie, Joshua Carrizales, Matthew Carrizales, Jennifer Koehlmoos and spouse Jason, Michelle Bulau and spouse Luke, Tim Shoemaker and spouse Kelcey, Brett Vandersnick and spouse Sarah, Justin Vandersnick, Jeff Vandersnick and spouse, Angie; 22 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Joan Eisenbeiss and spouse, Stan of Springfield, S.D., Dean Davison and spouse, Bonita of Le Mars, Iowa, Sharon Johns of Bloomfield, Larry Davison and spouse, Rhonda of Kearney, Bob Davison of Etolie, Texas, Cinda Behn and spouse, Mike of Kearney, Linda Hinrichs and spouse James of Lincoln, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Oneita (Horrocks) Davison; her spouse, Roy Vandersnick; a son, Dennis Vandersnick; a grandson, Chris Vandersnick and spouse Beth; a brother, James Davison; a sister, Roberta Davison; her sons-in-law, John Carrizales and Bill Meyer; and a brother-in-law, Val Johns.

Pallbearers are her grandsons: Benji Carrizales, Joshua Carrizales, Matt Carrizales, Tim Shoemaker, Brett Vandersnick, Justin Vandersnick and Jeff Vandersnick.

Honorary pallbearer is her grandson, Chris Vandersnick.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
