TILDEN — Services for Ervin D. Petersen, 81, Tilden, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. John Petersen will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Petersen died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home.


Ervin D. Petersen, son of Andreas and Anna (Mock) Petersen, was born May 24, 1931, at Tilden. Ervin grew up in the Tilden area and graduated from Tilden High School with the class of 1949. On June 1, 1969, he was married to Marlene A. Wood at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden.

During his lifetime, Ervin farmed north of Tilden and was also employed by Central Valley Ag.

Ervin is survived by his wife, Marlene Petersen of Tilden; daughters Susan Mickelson of Neligh and Beverly Petersen of San Pedro, Calif.; son Steve (wife Carol) Petersen of Neligh; four grandchildren, Elishia Petersen, Marcy Mickelson, Donny Mickelson and Dannie Mickelson; and a great-grandson, Dale Mickelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Laverna and Genevieve; brothers LeRoy, Lyle, Kenny and Cecil; and a son-in-law, Dale Mickelson.

Obituary policy

The Daily News publishes death notices and obituaries on a daily basis for Norfolkans, area residents and former residents.

Death notices, which include information about when and where a person died, funeral services, burial and visitation for the deceased and memorial information, are published free of charge.

If families of the deceased desire to have an obituary printed, there is a fee charged for doing so. Because of that, families of the deceased can decide what information they want included in the obituary, as well as if they desire to have a photograph published along with it. The Daily News reserves the right to edit. 

Norfolk and area funeral homes have detailed information about placing an obituary in the Daily News. If individuals want to submit obituary information themselves, it can be emailed to funerals@norfolkdailynews.com or faxed to (402) 644-2080.

People needing additional information about death notices and obituaries can call the Daily News at 371-1020 or (877) 371-1020 and ask for the newsroom.
