Services for Dennis Culver, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hansen Funeral Home in Irene, S.D. Burial will be in the Gayville Cemetery at Gayville, S.D.

Visitation will begin two hours prior to services.

He died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.


He married Marilyn Thorson in 1958 and to their union, five children were born.

He married Glenyce Lee on June 25, 1988.

Dennis is survived by his wife Glenyce; two sons, Kevin (Penny) Culver and Kent (Brenda) Culver, all of Omaha; two daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Finkral and Kristin (Darin) Spaulding, all of Norfolk; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Culver of Yankton; stepchildren, Troy Larson of Yankton, Rick Larson of Gayville and Glenda Mitchell of Irene, S.D. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Frank of Sioux Falls and Shirley Dale of Gayville, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kyle in 2009; grandson, Corey; sister, Percy Bergland; and brothers, Calvin, Cress, Elmer and Dural.

Obituary policy

The Daily News publishes death notices and obituaries on a daily basis for Norfolkans, area residents and former residents.

Death notices, which include information about when and where a person died, funeral services, burial and visitation for the deceased and memorial information, are published free of charge.

If families of the deceased desire to have an obituary printed, there is a fee charged for doing so. Because of that, families of the deceased can decide what information they want included in the obituary, as well as if they desire to have a photograph published along with it.

Norfolk and area funeral homes have detailed information about placing an obituary in the Daily News. If individuals want to submit obituary information themselves, it can be emailed to funerals@norfolkdailynews.com or faxed to (402) 644-2080.

People needing additional information about death notices and obituaries can call the Daily News at 371-1020 or (877) 371-1020 and ask for the newsroom.
