NORFOLK — Memorial services for Calvin J. “Cal” Allyn, 77, Norfolk, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Norfolk. The Rev. Jackie Perry will officiate.
Visitation will begin an hour prior to services at the church.
He died Sunday, June 9, 2019, at his home in Norfolk.
Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Calvin James was born Dec. 8, 1941, to James L. Allyn and Sarah E. Allyn in Stuart. He graduated from Atkinson High School in 1959.
He married Karen K. Moody on Aug. 26, 1962. Calvin graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in agricultural economics in 1964. He worked for Federal Land Bank Association and then Farm Credit Services until 1996.
Calvin served on the Norfolk City Council for many years.
He was an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and many civic service organizations.
He is survived by his spouse, Karen; three children, Susan Allyn of Norfolk, Gregory and Shannon Allyn of Frisco, Texas, and Zuri and Arman Mnatsakanyan of Bessemer City, N.C.; three grandchildren, Daniel, Kaysie and Taylor Allyn, a sister, Jean Stenzel of O’Neill; a brother-in-law, Dale and Bettie Moody of Kernersville, N.C.; and a sister-in-law, Ellen Voss of Ainsworth.
Memorials can be given to the family for future designation or the charity of your choice.
