A Norfolk man was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault and making terroristic threats with a knife in an incident Sunday morning.

Samuel Sanchez, 31, of Norfolk was arrested after police responded to the 1900 block of Parker Circle at 5:47 a.m. Sunday, said Capt. Leon Chapman of the Norfolk Police Division.

When police arrived, one man was bleeding from an injury to his face and officers found the apartment to be in disarray with several glass items broken on the floor, he said.

A woman and a man told officers they were assaulted by their roommate Sanchez.

The man told police that Sanchez had a knife and threatened to kill him. Sanchez allegedly grabbed him, scraping his fingernails on his face, causing him to bleed.

The woman struggled with Sanchez and was able to get the knife from him and shove him in his room, Chapman said.

Officers found Sanchez in his room, intoxicated and covered with vomit.

He will face two potential counts of third-degree domestic assault and one count of terroristic threats. Sanchez was booked into the Norfolk jail until being transferred to the Madison County Jail later Sunday morning.
