VERDIGRE — A joint effort of the SNARE drug task force and watchful eye of citizens resulted in the arrest of a Verdigre man for numerous charges.
According to a press release from Don Henery, Knox County sheriff, a search warrant was served Wednesday at two residences in Verdigre by officers from the Verdigre Police Department, the Knox County sheriff’s office and the SNARE drug task force.
The warrant was issued after an investigation by the Verdigre Police Department. Items seized by the officers included controlled substances packaged for resale, according to the press release.
Jon Gerald Ruzicka, 53, Verdigre, was arrested on a Knox County warrant for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a misdemeanor.
Because of the seizure of controlled substances at his residence located by the Verdigre school, Ruzicka was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in a drug free school zone, a felony, according to information from the sheriff’s office.
Ruzicka was booked into the Knox County jail.
Sheriff Don Henery said the investigation was made possible by numerous tips and input from the public, which greatly aided the investigation and again shows the importance of the public getting involved in helping to protect a community and its children.
