CLARKSON — A 76-year-old rural Howells man died Tuesday morning in a farm accident.

George Baumert was fatally injured when he was struck and run over by a tractor on his farm about 4 miles northeast of Clarkson, said Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger.

He was working alone with the tractor when the accident occurred. He was found shortly after by a neighbor and then transported to the Schuyler hospital by Clarkson Rescue where he was pronounced dead on arrival, Unger said.

The sheriff’s office responded about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Services for Mr. Baumert are pending with Stokely Funeral Home in West Point.
