STANTON — The March flooding have resulted in property damage and economic impacts to individuals, businesses and communities throughout Northeast Nebraska — including Stanton.

To begin the process of developing an economic development strategic plan to address these issues in Stanton, a planning committee including County Commissioner Douglas Huttmann and Lowell Schroeder, who is a community planner for the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District, has been formed.

They will host a community meeting on Monday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at the VFW building, 106 Veterans Ave.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for Stanton businesses and residents to begin the strategic planning process to mitigate the economic impact and provide for long term economic growth of the Stanton area.

This community discussion will also include a brief overview of disaster recovery resources for area businesses and individuals.

Staff from the Small Business Administration and Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District will also be present at the meeting and available to meet with individual businesses beginning at 6:30 p.m.
