O'Neill man seeking Legislature

O'NEILL — Tyson Larson announced his candidacy for the Nebraska State Legislature's 40th District on Monday.

“The 40th District and Nebraska need new, young leaders that are willing to approach the state's problems with innovative ‘common sense solutions,’ ” Larson said.

The O’Neill man is a fifth-generation and life-long Nebraskan. He graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., with degrees in government, theology and anthropology. He is the founder of The Rope Group, a company that does marketing and fundraising for small rodeo associations.

Larson began his career in politics working for  Congressman Jeff Fortenberry in Washington, D.C. He also has worked for U.S. Sen. Chuck Hagel and served as the campaign coordinator for the Third District Congressman Adrian Smith.

Larson said he is a fiscal conservative and advocate for limited government. Sen. M.L. “Cap” Dierks of rural Ewing currently represents the 40th District.
